Custom Web Sites and Blogs

The iMerrill publishing service provides Web sites and blogs at no cost to faculty and staff at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism. Only an e-mail address at jmail.umd.edu is required to sign up and start publishing online in minutes.
The service uses the WordPress MU blogging software with pre-designed pages. No knowledge of Web coding is required. To get started, click CREATE A SITE

Name and Activate Your Site

You’ll be asked to give your site a name and title. The title will appear on the top of your home page and is easy to change later. But the name you select cannot be changed and will become part of your site’s Web address, like this:

http://imerrill.umd.edu/yoursitename

When you create and name your site, you’ll receive an e-mail seeking confirmation. That message contains your password and a link to activate. Click on the link to activate your site. Use the “Site Admin” or “login” link to find your Dashboard.
You can change your password to something easier to remember by clicking on your name in the upper right corner of the dashboard where it says HOWDY. Be sure to write it down and save it!
